Just a few questions Internet fans...
How many x-rays can one child have?
Have we met our deductible yet?
Is there a way to budget for childhood injuries?
Is there a way to measure the years off your life each time your child gets hurt?
Is Motrin really enough for a broken clavicle?
Is there a way to keep kids from climbing on chairs, etc.?
Is there a way to know how we are going to cope these next few days?
Our more accident prone child--no names, Carsten--fell off a kid chair tonight (so 1 1/2 feet off the ground) to the kitchen floor... He has done this before--this time he wasn't consolable, he kept clutching his collar bone... I just felt like something was wrong. Off to the ER, where we are starting to recognize the staff... An x-ray later we were told he broke his clavicle and that all there is to do is give him Motrin... So, we are home and trying to figure out how to accomplish the normal tasks of getting him undressed, dressed, how to nurse without crushing his side, should we let him walk around and fall like he is always doing??? Oh, boy...

Oh friends that does not sound fun. We are so sorry and we have no advice except maybe turn your house into a padded cell so Carsten just bounces off.
he is a little monkey! what an adventurer he'll be/already is. and just in time for conv., huh??
Geesh - I am so sorry to hear about Carsten. I cannot believe how much you have already been through with him. We will pray for peace and rest for you for your family and especially for Carsten!
Ouch! That is no fun... Chloe just did a face plant off of a kid chair herself, and luckily only a bruised cheek was the result! So many injuries are just luck, or bad luck, as the case may be! Hope he's feeling better soon!
Oh Dana, how awful for all of you...my heart goes out to little Carsten & I hope he heals quickly. It sure proves my pediatrician's word from years ago when Daughter #2 had just started walking & fell from a 2nd floor balcony, landing on her stomach on the lawn below (with nary a scratch, bruise or injury whatsoever) that he'd seen kids fall from table height & be quite seriously hurt. You just never know how they're going to land. Ouch. Sorry I don't have any good answers to your questions.
this guy has terrible luck! wishing the best for you guys and little accident-prone carsten!
Ouch! Later that same day, Byron decided to fall and break his arm! He's currently in a sling and this afternoon we find out if they'll cast him or not! Another joy of parenthood....
Poor little guy! Hope you are all hanging in there!! I vote that its summer so who needs clothes, esopecially if you have a broken clavicle!
I'm sorry that we weren't here to stand by Dana! I hope he will heal fast so he can move onto the next adventure in his life. See you at SagII. Love, G'ma JoAnn
Dana,
So sorry to hear the news of Carsten's accident! Ugh
We are sure thinking of you guys, and I agree with Amy. Just let him run around in his diaper!!!
Yikes. So sorry about the fall. We've had a few tumbles, but nothing serious. Our turn will come, I'm sure! Hope he bounces back (well, not literally). Just get better, Carsten!
So sorry to hear about Carsten! Our prayers are with him.
kristen:)

Yeeps! I agree, who needs clothes when you are under 3 anyway?! Poor guy...poor YOU guys!
